Insulating your roof space helps use less energy to keep your home warm being an effective way to saving money on fuel bills and energy.

Loft insulation can come in a variety of materials:

  • Insulated blankets or quilts can be the most straight forward method of insulation undertake by either an installer or competent DIY'er. These are made from either a mineral wool or natural wool.

  • Blown insulation is a loose, fire retardant material needs to be installed by a professional. These are made from mineral wool or cellulose fibre.

  • Boards - made from expanded or extruded polystyrene.

We chose sheep's wool thermafleece insulation for the Worcester energy home for its natural fibres from a fully renewable resource.

The material also has the ability to rapidly absorb and release water vapour and can help to keep buildings cool in summer and warm in winter.
