Solar hot water panels explained

By using the sun's direct and diffused rays solar panels collect the energy and turn it into heat for heating water in a cylinder for use around the home.

The myth is that the panels will only work in summer months. The panels respond to daylight and will therefore work even in cloudy conditions.

Providing hot water

A typical well sized solar panel system should provide up to 60% of the hot water requirements for the home annually.

You will collect useful energy from the solar panel collectors every day they are on the roof.

There will be days inevitably through the year where the boiler has to do a little more work and 'top up' the cylinder to reach the set temperature.

Solar panel location

To get the most out of the panels you need to make sure that they are located as south facing as possible on your property. Solar panels compliment gas and oil boilers.
