Ground source heat pumps

Graham Davies, of J H Davies & Son, has installed a Worcester Greenstore ground source heat pump into his own property.

Built in the 1870s, the property's central heating and hot water supply was provided by an old oil-fired boiler, which had proved extremely expensive for the previous tenants. After modernising and insulating the house to bring it up to current building regulations, Graham decided to improve the efficiency of the property by installing a Greenstore 9 heat pump to provide a sustainable supply of heating and hot water.

He comments: "When we installed the heat pump it was a relatively new product, so we looked into it in detail before going ahead. We looked at various options but found Worcester's Greenstore ground source heat pump to offer the best package, and with most of the major components pre-plumbed into the unit, installation was easy. The product does the job very well and I'm really pleased with the level of comfort it offers. We didn't require any form of auxiliary heating throughout the winter months, which was fantastic.

"I'm sold on renewables, especially ground source heat pumps, and wouldn't hesitate in recommending them for existing or new build properties. In fact, one of my customers heard on the grapevine that I'd installed one. He visited my house three times to see the heat pump in action before asking me to install one in his barn conversion, which I'm currently working on now."
