The judges were impressed that Arthur upgraded his twenty year old inefficient boiler to an 'A' rated Greenstar Heatslave 25/32 combi oil-fired appliance with added room thermostat controls to maximise the efficiency of the system.
He had been planning to upgrade his old heating system for some time, but the final decision came after spending the second Christmas in a row repairing the boiler's burner. The old boiler was running on a noisy and inefficient gravity feed pump system.
Arthur said: "The results of the installation have been amazing. Not only are we doing our bit for the environment but our fuel bills have also fallen by around 30% annually.
